The Rustic Bar Stool draws its inspiration from the architecture of mountain lodges to create a ruggedly beautiful piece of furniture for your home. This bar stool is designed with straight, supportive backrest and a seat that features open slats for many hours of peaceful, comfortable sitting. The armrests and frame surrounding the backrest and seat are thick logs of Northern White Cedar, which feature knots and crevices characteristic of a rustic cabin.
This cedar wood is quite aromatic and lends great character to this piece. Plus, the wood works to naturally repel insects, so you can even use it outdoors.

About Cedar Log Furniture: There are a few properties that are unique to log furniture. All of our logs are small diameter cedar trees. Because we use the whole tree in our furnishings, all logs will have cracks or checks. This is a natural phenomenon that is part of the drying process. As our logs are dried for use in furniture, the wood shrinks in length, width and radius. As tension develops in the wood due to shrinkage, the log splits to relieve tension. These splits or cracks are known as "checks" in the log. All logs that contain the heart of the tree will develop lengthwise cracks or checks. The check will not go deeper than the heart, so the structural integrity of the log is hardly compromised. These checks contribute to the natural beauty and character of log furniture.
Additional Information:
Our Northern Cedar, natural and untreated, is grown right in the heart of America. We carefully select cedar trees growing in moist, swampy northeastern woodlands. Cedar absorbs and loses moisture slowly, which minimizes the dry cracking, splintering and swelling that are more common in oak or pine. Cedar has the US Forest Products Laboratorys highest rating for decay and disease resistance.
The fresh scent of cedar doubles functions as a mild insect repellent. Our cedar products are shipped in their natural color, which is a pale tan or light gold. The color changes evenly over time to a rustic, silver gray patina. Water-based or oil stains will delay this weathering process.
